Music Ministry

The purpose of our music ministry is to minister to the congregation through the music that is provided each week. Music often touches in a way that is more powerful than words alone. The participants love to sing and perform, and are led by talented staff and volunteers.

Music is a big part of our worship and fellowship at WFUMC. Our choirs fill the sanctuary with joyful music! 

Covenant Choir - Adult Choir - Elsie Shuler, Music Director
The Covenant Choir is an integral part of Sunday morning services. The choir sings at the 11 a.m. service regularly and at the 8:30 a.m. service on the first Sunday of each month, Communion Sunday. Rehearsals are held Thursday evenings from 7 - 8:30 p.m. The Covenant Choir is open to post-high school singers. Choir members sing two cantatas each year, at Christmas and at Easter. They also host other musical events such as special concerts and musical galas. Member birthdays are celebrated following rehearsal on the last Thursday of each month.

Women's Choir - Elsie Shuler, Music Director
The Women's Choir sings at Sunday morning services once a month. The Woman's Choir rehearses the first, third and fifth Thursday evenings of the month and focuses primarily on the styles of traditional treble choir music.

Men's Choir - Elsie Shuler, Music Director
The Men's Choir rehearses the second and fourth Thursday evening of the month. The choir also sings about once a month for Sunday morning services.

Handbell Choir - Melanie Mcllvaine
The Handbell Choir practices on Sunday afternoon and performs quarterly.

Praise Band - Robert Woesner
The Praise Band performs contemporary Christian music.

Special Groups and Sololsts
Talented quartets, trios, duets, and soloists perform throughout the year.

Youth Choir - Sixth Grade - 12th Grade - Barina Blackwelder
The Youth Choir practices on Sunday afternoon, praising God through song. Members sing monthly at worship services and have the opportunity to take part in group performances with the Children's Choirs. All youth are welcome!

Children's Choirs - Barina Blackwelder
The Chidren's Choirs practice on Sunday afternoon. They perform throughout the traditional school year and also work on biblical musicals. All children are welcome!

   Good News Singers - Second through Fifth Grades
