Week 5 Focus: SPECIAL COMMITMENTS
Well folks, we have less than two weeks until we celebrate Easter! Alleluia! I have enjoyed the conversations I have had with many of you about your Lenten disciplines. If there is one comment I have heard consistently, it has been this – “It has been more difficult than what I thought it would be.” Prayer, fasting, studying the Scriptures and even withdrawing to out-of-the-way places is hard work. Yet, these disciplines are a blessing, a means of experiencing God’s grace.
Another way we can experience God’s grace is through special commitments. When we forgo an ongoing activity in our lives to help someone in need, we are denying ourselves for a greater good. Jesus called this taking up one’s cross (Matthew 16:24).
This weekend we can take up our cross by volunteering for Habitat. This Saturday, April 12, is our church’s designated day to help build a home on Spring Street in Wake Forest. However, in order to participate, we have to sign-up on their website. Therefore, follow the steps below:
1. Go to http://vhub.at/spring
2. Select sign-up (right side of the page, under photo) and then register. Complete the registration (the group is North Wake Faith Coalition). Afterwards, you will get an online confirmation immediately.
3. At that point, you will be able to sign up for a date by going to the date, click on it and follow the instructions through to the end. You will then get an online confirmation and also an email confirmation.
Thank you for making a difference!
